IGNOU Distance BA Duration

The usual duration of a Bachelor of Arts from Indira Gandhi National University is 3 years. Also, the university offers some Four-Year Undergraduate Programs (FYUP) under the guidance of NEP 2020. These programs follow a semester-wise curriculum with 6 semesters of 6 month each for normal and FYUP, respectively.

Moreover, UGC also permits students to extend their program to 6 years in case of failure in TEE or any serious medical or personal issues.

IGNOU follows a simple admission process with two admission cycles: January & June for its distance courses. Applicants looking to pursue the respective BA course need to follow these steps

Step 1: Registration:

• Create a user ID

Step 2: Admission Form:

Step 4: Payment:

Step 5: Download ID Card:

Upon admission confirmation, you can download your student ID card using your login credentials in the Samarth portal.

Note: Students need to re-register annually to continue their respective courses.

Likewise, other degree programs, the Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts a series of offline assessments and term-end examinations for the BA degree. These evaluation patterns are especially designed to measure the learning capabilities of students on topics of literature, social science, and humanities.

Assessment has a weightage of 30% and consists of MCQs and question answers. Students need to submit a handwritten assessment at their assigned study centers.

Term-end examinations consisted of MCQs, short and long questions, with a weightage of 70%. The university conducts TEE twice a year, in June and December, in offline mode. Students can choose their preferred physical exam center across India for TEE.
